Resume Tips
When highlighting or prioritizing your resume, it is important to consider where you are in your career. If you have a Degree, (Associates or Bachelors), and have worked less than 6+ years in Management, then, the education should be at the top of the resume. Conversely, if you have more than 7 years of Management, the education, unless you have a Masters, becomes less important than your experience, therefore, it should be after the work history. The work history should be as accurate as possible and using the month and year in showing employment dates is also very helpful. Personal information, such as hobbies, marital status, and children is an area that is not necessary and is open to your own choice. In closing out your resume with "References, Furnished upon request" be sure that you do have a typed reference list with all pertinent names and phone numbers ready to be forwarded at the appropriate time.

A resume is an "advertisement" of your career; if it's too long, then it's boring and often ignored or put aside. The more details it contains, the more likely they will NOT be read or absorbed. A short, well-defined, "highlighted" resume is the best way to go. One page (two is acceptable) is more than enough to recap even the longest career.

Remember, most Human Resource Managers and Recruiters handle hundreds or even thousands of resumes a year and they appreciate that the "advertisement" be short and to the point.
